The time has finally arrived. The Oakland Raiders have reported to their 2014 training camp in Napa, California to begin serious preparations for the new season. The team has made significant changes to the roster this offseason in hopes of putting a better product of the field. That work beings at training camp.

“Now we have new players coming in after I’ve been here for a year; new players that are proven, so that gives it a little bit of added energy around here,” Charles Woodson said upon arriving. “We’re looking to capitalize on that.”

With all the changes and additions for the upcoming season, the Raiders have a new found optimism this training camp. Throughout OTAs and mini-camp, the Raiders have kept a positive attitude. The players, coaching staff, and organization feel this is a new year with more expectations.

“I’m ready to get started.” Woodson said. “There are some big feelings around here right now so I’m excited to get to work.”

Rookies like first-round pick Khalil Mack and second-round pick Derek Carr are embarking on their first training camp with the Raiders. Both are considered to be important parts of the Raiders future and present. Their development in camp is going to be crucial and they look forward to the learning process.

“I have some of the best guys to look up to, as far as the veteran aspect, and I’m just looking forward to learning from them and keep getting better as a player and as a person,” Mack said.

“I’m starting to learn how to be an NFL quarterback and those things, but I still have a long way to go,” Carr said. “I’m going to rely on my coaches and the veterans on the team to help me get through my first camp and whatever I can do to help this team get better.”

The players will go through meetings and physicals today and begin practice tomorrow.
