With the Oakland Raiders beginning their preparation for their road test against the Houston Texans, the team was without several members at Wednesday's practice. The most notable absence was quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Pryor is battling a knee sprain that hampered him last week and in the game against the New York Giants. He is day to day.

If Pryor is unable to go, undrafted rookie Matt McGloin would be the starter against the Houston Texans' number one rated pass defense. Along with Pryor, running back Darren McFadden also missed practice with his hamstring. Safety Tyvon Branch, wide receiver Juron Criner, tackle Matt McCants, linebacker Kaluka Maiava, kicker Sebastian Janikowski, and cornerback DJ Hayden all did not participate Wednesday. Tackle Tony Pashos was limited.

Left tackle Jared Veldheer has missed the entire season with torn triceps. He was put on the injured reserve with the designation to return after eight weeks. Veldheer is now eligible to return. He did some individual work in today's practice and the Raiders will have to make a decision to activate him or leave him on the injured reserve for the rest of the season in the coming three weeks. It would be a stretch to see him on the field Sunday.

The Raiders opponent Sunday placed running back Arian Foster on injured reserve with a back injury, ending his season. The Texans will go into the Oakland game with Ben Tate carrying the rushing load.
