After last night's 27-17 win over the San Diego Chargers, the Oakland Raiders were busy. Today was the deadline to activate wide receiver Andre Holmes, who served a four game suspension for performance enhancing drugs. The team did so and released quarterback Matt Flynn and waived offensive lineman Jack Cornell.

Holmes joined the Raiders this offseason off waivers after playing seven games with the Dallas Cowboys last season. He caught two passes for 11 yards. This preseason, Holmes saw plenty of action catching seven passes for 86 yards. He brings some added size and play making ability to the Raiders' wide receiving corps.

Oakland traded for Flynn this offseason and saw him as the starting quarterback. He struggled in the preseason and was overtaken for the starting spot by Terrelle Pryor and the move has paid dividends for the Raiders. Pryor has been exciting and his development is making the Raiders a better team. Flynn started one game when Pryor was injured and struggled mightily. After that performance, he was relegated to third string. Today the team cut ties.

With Flynn off the roster, the Raiders will bring in quarterbacks David Carr and Pat White for workouts tomorrow. The only other quarterback on the roster is undrafted rookie Matt McGloin, who served as the back-up to Pryor Sunday. Rookie Tyler Wilson is on the practice squad at quarterback.
