After the Oakland Raiders tough 20-17 loss to the Cleveland Browns, head coach Dennis Allen left the team to be with his ill father. Allen is expected to be back on Wednesday to coach the team in their Thursday night match-up against the Denver Broncos.

Here is the statement for the Raiders Media Relations:

“Coach Allen coached this game with a pretty heavy heart because his father Grady is in very serious condition. Coach Allen will depart Oakland tonight to be with his dad. He anticipates returning on Wednesday night to be able to coach the game, but we’ll have an announcement in terms of availability for coaches this week. But Coach Allen is departing Oakland tonight and not expected to return until Wednesday at the earliest.”

Allen's father Grady is 66 years old and played five seasons in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons. Both Dennis and Grady Allen played college football at Texas A&M and Dennis got his coaching start at his alma mater as a graduate assistant.

Offensive coordinator Greg Knapp will run practice while Allen is away from the team.
